Madam Grace Amey-Obeng, a prominent entrepreneur, has called on Ghanaian fashion designers to integrate the country’s rich culture into their designs to enhance their marketability and competitiveness on the global stage.

Speaking at the opening of Ezel Fashion in Oyarifa, Greater Accra Region, Ms. Amey-Obeng emphasized that when fashion designers are innovative and create unique designs that reflect local culture, they can distinguish their work from foreign offerings. This uniqueness can increase the perceived value of their products, encouraging consumers to invest in locally made designs.

Ms. Amey-Obeng, who also serves as the Vice President in Charge of Small and Medium Enterprises at the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), highlighted that embracing local culture in fashion could reduce the preference for foreign fabrics and instead focus attention on homegrown designs.
