The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has projected over $3 billion in revenue from the ‘Beyond the Return’ programs in 2024. In 2020, the government reported approximately 1.9 billion cedis in revenue from over 900,000 visits during the 2019 Year of Return celebration.
Speaking to JoyNews in Parliament, Akwesi Agyemang, CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, revealed that Ghana is prepared to host at least 1.3 million tourists in the second half of 2024. Nearly 600,000 visitors have already traveled to Ghana in the first half of the year. Agyemang added that the second half, especially the last quarter, is typically stronger, and they anticipate a significant increase in visitor numbers.
